The first building from ready-made concrete elements was erected in the storied alpine SPA town of Bad Gastein by architect Gerhard Garstenauer. Today the Congress Center stands abandoned and is surrounded by more abandoned buildings. The congress center looks like a UFO that landed and never left compared to all the buildings in the style of old grand hotels that stand adjunct to it. No costs were spared at construction and interior design of this ambitipous project, BB italia sofas and arm chairs, custom made carpets etc. Surrounded by spectacular alpine views, one can easily imagine the time when kings, queens and celebrities used to summer here. In the 80s there was a short revival, sheiks and U2 came to party and ski, the hottest club in town at the time was also in the congress center.
The pictures for this project were taken during a residency in the alpine village in 2015, since then Bad Gastein has gained more and more acclaim as an off-beat destination. The movie "The Grand Budapest Hotel" taking some of its inspiration from it certainly did not hurt. Meanwhile all the carpets and funishings have been removed from the congress center and its next incarnation is eagerly anticipated while a new contemporary tower is being built in the vicinity and some of the old hotels are being renovated(2022).

O primeiro edifício com elementos de concreto prontos foi erguido na famosa cidade alpina de Bad Gastein pelo arquiteto Gerhard Garstenauer. Hoje, o Centro de Congressos está abandonado e cercado por mais edifícios abandonados. O centro de congressos parece um OVNI que pousou e nunca saiu, comparado a todos os edifícios no estilo de antigos grandes hotéis que ficam ao lado dele. Nenhum custo foi poupado na construção e no design de interiores deste projeto ambicioso, sofás e poltronas BB italia, tapetes personalizados etc. Cercado por vistas alpinas espetaculares, pode-se facilmente imaginar a época em que reis, rainhas e celebridades costumavam passar o verão aqui. Nos anos 80, houve um breve renascimento, xeques e U2 vieram para festejar e esquiar, o clube mais badalado da cidade na época também ficava no centro de congressos.
As fotos deste projeto foram tiradas durante uma residência na vila alpina em 2015, desde então Bad Gastein ganhou cada vez mais reconhecimento como um destino fora do comum. O filme "The Grand Budapest Hotel" tirando um pouco de sua inspiração dele certamente não fez mal. Enquanto isso, todos os carpetes e móveis foram removidos do centro de congressos e sua próxima encarnação é ansiosamente aguardada enquanto uma nova torre contemporânea está sendo construída nas proximidades e alguns dos antigos hotéis estão sendo reformados (2022).
