Instaspam
Conceived in the early period of instagram, portraits were rephotographed, a filter applied, turned up side down with a nod to the spirit of Baselitz and Gerhard Richter and posted one after the other. The portraits were taken from a book bought many years ago which consists of portraits of german personalities, though from the same time period of the famous August Sander work, these are not pictures of everyday people, here we see only known entities, famous politicians, conducters, writers, painters, a cross section of polite society of the 1920s. Gerhard Richter painted a series of portraits from a similiar source 40 years earlier in 1971-72. The appropriation of images is of course the business plan of Instagram.
